Basic knowledge and production process of RFID tags 2024-07-12
With the popularity of RFID electronic tags, we encounter more and more problems in project applications. How to make RFID tags achieve the best effect in the actual application of the project, understanding the common sense of RFID tags will help you.

So, what are the characteristics of RFID electronic tags and what are the production processes?

What is RFID?

1. Basic concept of RFID

RFID is the abbreviation of Radio Frequency Identification. It is often called inductive electronic chip or proximity card, induction card, contactless card, electronic tag, electronic barcode, etc.

What we usually see on clothing labels is an RFID tag composed of an antenna and a chip, just like everyone's unique ID card, which stores the identification information of the item itself;

To read the "identity information" of an item, you need the cooperation of a reader.

The energy transfer and data exchange between the tag and the reader are realized through radio waves, which can read the existing content on the RFID tag and write new information into the tag.

2. RFID basic model

A complete RFID system consists of two parts: Reader and Transponder. Its working principle is that the Reader transmits an infinite radio wave energy of a specific frequency to the Transponder to drive the Transponder circuit to send out the internal ID Code, and the Reader receives the ID Code at this time.

The special feature of the Transponder is that it does not require batteries, contact, or card swiping, so it is not afraid of dirt, and the chip password is the only one in the world that cannot be copied, with high security and long life.

3. RFID working principle

RFID electronic tag technology is a technology that uses radio waves for automatic identification and tracking. During the production process, an RFID electronic tag reader is required to convert the design or image into an RFID electronic tag.

RFID electronic tags usually consist of a chip and an antenna. The chip stores the tag information, and the antenna is used to receive and send signals. When the RFID electronic tag passes through the reader, the reader will emit radio waves, which will be reflected by the RFID electronic tag and transmit the information to the reader. The reader can read and write tag information, thereby realizing automatic identification and tracking.

4. Features of RFID electronic tags
● Long service life
Data retention time is up to 10 years.

● Fast identification speed
Multiple RFID tags can be read in batches at one time.

● Reusable, large data storage capacity
RFID electronic tags have the function of repeatedly adding, deleting, and modifying stored data, which is convenient for replacing and updating old and new data. The maximum capacity of RFID electronic tags is several megabytes, which can store more data information.

● Strong security and confidentiality
RFID tags have a globally unique ID code, data content encryption protection, strong security and confidentiality, and are not easy to be forged and imitated.

● Dynamic real-time communication
RFID electronic tags appear within the effective identification range of the RFID reader, and their location can be dynamically tracked and monitored.

● Data reading does not require a visible light source
RFID electronic tag data reading does not require a visible light source, and the internal RFID electronic tag information can be read through the outer packaging box.

● Waterproof, oil-proof and pollution-resistant
Pollution-resistant and durable tags are made of waterproof and oil-proof materials, which have strong resistance to water, oil, chemicals and other substances and long service life.

●Small size
Miniaturized size and diversified shapes RFID electronic tags are not limited by shape and size, and are also developing in the direction of miniaturization and diversification, and can be applied to more different products.

5. Commonly used manufacturing processes for RFID electronic tags
In the process of wireless communication, antennas are indispensable components, and RFID uses radio waves to transmit information. The generation and reception of radio waves need to be realized through antennas. When the electronic tag enters the working area of the reader antenna, the electronic tag antenna will generate enough induced current to obtain energy and be activated. The most commonly used antenna manufacturing processes are copper wire burning process, metal etching process and printing process.

6. Future development trend of RFID electronic tags
With the continuous development of RFID technology and the continuous expansion of application fields, RFID electronic tags will be applied to more fields and realize more applications in the future
